My made-up alien species (so far)

Virelith: lavender gray-skinned humanoids with four arms with three fingers and two thumbs on each hand (an opposable thumb on both sides of each hand), and a long prehensile tail. Homeworld: Kharuun in the HD 13931 system, 154 lightyears from Earth.

Trioptid: green-skinned humanoids with four tentacle-like legs, a slightly large elongated head, three all-black eyes (with the middle eye being slightly larger than the other two eyes), pointed ears, an antenna for detecting electromagnetic waves and slight air movements, and tetradactyl hands. Homeworld: Triopta in the HD 43691 system, 279 lightyears from Earth.

Virellan Cycleborn: metamorphosizing humanoids that pass through five fixed metamorphosis phases: small, sensory Sprotlings (mouse-like babies), agile Hoppets (rabbit-like children), curious and adaptive Brakins with tails (monkey-like adolescents), powerful and intelligent Thronaks (gorilla-like adults), and slow, durable Orrakels with shell-like backs (tortoise-like elders); each stage acts as a distinct form with its own role in behavior and society. Homeworld: unknown.

Virethai: a species that undergoes metamorphosis: naga-like forms from infancy to centaur-like forms from childhood onward. Homeworld: unknown.

Revulsari: A sapient species whose biology inverts the emotional meaning of revulsion and desire, using intense shock or deep disgust as the trigger for reproduction instead of lust. Desire and pleasure are openly expressed and culturally normal, serving as a common source of comfort and bonding. They possess specialized scent glands that release pheromones capable of inducing revulsion, alarm, or emotional shock in compatible partners, helping trigger the reproductive state. In males, the penis is a dedicated pleasure organ with no reproductive function; any fluid released from it is sterile. Male gametes are produced separately and released only during reproduction through a temporary retractable tube that extends from a specialized reproductive opening located between the penis and scrotum. This structure activates only when the individual reaches the species’ extreme shocked or revulsed reproductive state, and it is used only for gamete transfer into a receptive partner experiencing the same state. Males also have a fully separate urinary opening located behind the anus, keeping waste removal separate from pleasure and reproduction. Females possess compatible reproductive structures that activate under the same shock/revulsion threshold. Since males must sit or squat to urinate, standing urination never developed, and urinals do not exist in Revulsari civilizations. Homeworld: unknown.

Grivolan: semi-amphibious, semi-arboreal humanoids that resemble a mix between a monkey and a frog. They have primate limbs (with two strong legs adapted for climbing and frog-like leaps between surfaces), fur on the arms, legs, back, and the back and top of their heads for insulation, amphibian skin traits, a prehensile tail, webbed digits, and a long sticky tongue; agile climbers, highly social, and hands-on problem solvers. Homeworld: Grivolan Prime in the HD 121504 system, 136 lightyears from Earth.

Tetravoltan: a sapient species that undergoes four fixed metamorphic stages: regenerative flat Drifters (planarian-like juveniles), immobile shell-bound Keepers (clam-like thinkers), multi-limbed Shapers (starfish-like builders), and upright Striders with crab-like claws and eye stalks (humanoid adults); memory persists across all stages, with each form filling a distinct role in their society. Homeworld: Tetravolta.

Pyrothal: star-like plasma beings composed of self-sustaining living plasma held together by powerful magnetic fields; born within nebulae, aging through stages similar to actual stars, shifting from hot blue-white younger forms to massive red elder forms before collapsing into dense stellar remnants or magnetic singularities. They communicate through radio pulses, flare patterns, and electromagnetic signals. Home regions: nebulae, stellar nurseries, and interstellar plasma currents.

Drakoryx: blue-purple furred humanoids with large wings attached to their backs, a long-snouted, pointed predatory head, four arms with retractable lower arms and semi-sharp fingertip claws on all hands, two retractable antenna-like sensory appendages on the top of the head, a long prehensile tail with a slightly blunt tip used for balance and striking, and feet with two forward toes and an opposable heel toe ending in semi-sharp tips. Along with being able to spit fiery plasma from their mouths, they possess wall-adhesive paw pads, super strength, super durability, and super intelligence, making them highly agile ambush hunters and adaptive problem solvers. Homeworld: unknown.

Mirelve: a humanoid alien species with muddy olive skin and solid black eyes, distinguished by two short antennae on the upper forehead that detect subtle electromagnetic and psychic signals. Their faces are smooth, with nostrils set directly into the skin and small internal ear openings instead of external ears. They have claw-like fingertips adapted for gripping, climbing, and digging, while their blunt thumbs allow precise manipulation. Mirelves use spoken language for everyday communication, but rely on telepathy mainly for reading surface thoughts and for long-distance contact, especially when speech would be inefficient or difficult. Homeworld: Mirelva in the HR 5566 system, 80 lightyears from Earth.

Thalvor: a gray-green reptilian humanoid species with four arms with three fingers and a thumb on each hand, large dark eyes, sensitive antennae that detect slight air vibrations and electromagnetic signals, and retractable claw-nails. Highly intelligent, acute-smelling, and agile wall-crawlers. Homeworld: Veyra III in the Sigma Coronae Borealis system, 76 lightyears from Earth.

My made-up alien planets

Virethys: a low-gravity world (its gravity is about two-thirds of Earth's) with sweeping biodiversity shaped by its long days and shifting twin suns. Virethys takes roughly 547 Earth days to complete one year, while a single day lasts about 36 Earth hours. About 60% of its land is dense, towering forest, while the remaining 40% is open savannah plains that stretch like golden seas between woodland continents. It orbits a binary star system: Aelion (a bright white star) and Bravun (a smaller amber-red star). Virethys has two moons: Soryn and Kethra (Soryn is much larger while Kethra is much smaller). Several sapient species inhabit Virethys: the Sylvrae: tall canopy dwellers; climb with forearm fins; communicate via layered sounds and leaf signals; live in territory-based treetop groups, the Korrathi: runner-adapted nomads; low, stable build; track herds and follow seasonal skies; highly mobile culture, the Veylith: low-light specialists; pale with large eyes; build vast tunnel networks; manage underground trade and resources, and the Dualborn: rare cross-environment species; semi-amphibious; move between forest and plains; act as intermediaries.
